Senior Product Designer

Rosalind Hale

Design systems and service design for operational and regulated products — the screens people use all day, under real constraints.

Profile

I design the unglamorous software that organisations run on, and I try to make it feel considered rather than merely tolerated.

Most of my work sits where a service is messy on the inside and needs to be calm on the outside: claims handling, clinical scheduling, compliance review. I map the actual work first, then design the interface that fits it, then write down the patterns so the next team does not start from nothing.

I work closely with engineers and with the people who use the product daily. I prefer small, reversible releases and a shared vocabulary over long specification documents. I am comfortable being the only designer in a room of twelve engineers, and equally comfortable handing a system over and stepping back.

Selected Work

Four projects that best show how I work end to end.

Ledgerline Design System

2024 – 2026 · Fintech operations

Consolidated four divergent internal toolkits into one accessible component library with documented usage rules and a contribution path for engineers.

Role
Systems lead, sole designer
Outcome
New internal tools now ship with consistent patterns instead of bespoke ones

Rota Rebuild, Meridian Health

2023 · Clinical scheduling

Redesigned a shift-planning tool after two weeks of shadowing ward coordinators, replacing a dense grid with a view built around the decisions they actually make.

Role
Lead designer, research and interface
Outcome
Coordinators plan a week in a single pass, without side spreadsheets

Plainly: Policy Documents

2022 · Insurance, customer-facing

Rewrote and restructured policy documents with a content designer and a legal reviewer, then built the layout and typographic system used to publish them.

Role
Interface and content design
Outcome
Support queries about wording dropped noticeably in the first quarter

Fieldbook Accessibility Review

2021 · Logistics platform

Audited a driver-facing app against WCAG 2.1 AA, prioritised findings by frequency of use, and paired with engineers through the remediation work.

Role
Accessibility lead
Outcome
All critical journeys operable by keyboard and screen reader
